Wagtail Park is a quiet, 10-acre touring park in Huntington, on the north-eastern edge of York. We offer spacious pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes, heated camping pods and a private coarse fishing lake, all in a peaceful country setting a few minutes from the city.

If you are comparing caravan parks near York, location usually decides it. Ours is simple: easy to reach from the A64 and A1237 ring road, 1.5 miles from Monks Cross Park & Ride, and far enough from the centre to enjoy quiet evenings by the lake. Arrive, set up once, and use us as a calm base for York and North Yorkshire.

Ideally Located Near York Ring Road & Monks Cross

Many touring caravan sites in York are either deep in the countryside or squeezed into the city. Wagtail Park sits between the two: rural and quiet, but connected to the main road network and to public transport into York.

Easy Access from A64 & A1237

Large setups need simple routes. We are a short drive from the A64 and close to the A1237 outer ring road, so there is no need to tow through the city centre, tackle narrow village lanes or worry about low bridges.

Our entrance and internal roads are wide, which makes arrival and departure straightforward for twin-axle caravans, large motorhomes and long towing outfits. For sat nav, use YO32 9SU.

1.5 Miles to Monks Cross Park & Ride

Monks Cross Park & Ride is 1.5 miles from our entrance, about a three-minute drive. Leave your caravan set up on its pitch, park at Monks Cross and take the bus into the city centre, with services running roughly every 10 to 12 minutes.

You are dropped within easy walking distance of York Minster, the Shambles and the city's museums, with no city-centre parking to find or pay for. That makes us one of the most practical campsites near Monks Cross Park and Ride for a car-free day in York. Monks Cross and the neighbouring Vangarde Shopping Park also have supermarkets, shops and restaurants.
