Imagine setting up your rods a short stroll from your caravan, with nothing but birdsong and the odd splash for company. At Wagtail Park, our private coarse fishing lake sits at the heart of a peaceful 10-acre park in Huntington, on the edge of York.

Many anglers search for campsites near York with a fishing lake and end up driving to a separate fishery each day. Here, the water is on your doorstep, and it is reserved for guests staying on the park. It makes a relaxed fishing holiday in York easy to plan, whether you fish all day or just for an hour after dinner.

Private 25-Peg Lake Reserved for Site Guests

Our lake is for park guests only, so you will not be competing with day visitors for the best swims. With 25 pegs spread around the bank, there is space to settle in without anglers either side of you. It is one of the reasons we stand out among caravan sites in Yorkshire with fishing.

Stocked Fish Species

The lake holds a healthy mix of coarse species, suited to pleasure anglers and more experienced fishermen alike.

Carp

The main target for many anglers on the lake.

Tench

Often at their best on warm, still mornings.

Roach

Reliable sport for float and pole anglers.

Bream

A good bet for anglers fishing the feeder.

Fenced pegs and reed beds around the private fishing lake at Wagtail Park, York

Well-Maintained Pegs & Quiet Surroundings

Each peg is kept tidy and accessible, giving you a firm, safe spot to set up your box or chair. Reed beds, open grass and mature trees surround the water, and sections of the bank are fenced for safety.

Away from the main roads and city traffic, the lake is a quiet place to spend a day. Wildlife is part of the experience, and you may spot ducks and other water birds while you wait for a bite. For many guests, this is what makes us one of the most relaxing coarse fishing campsites in North Yorkshire.
